GMAIL on mobile phone

* You travel a lot
* You want to go out for a coffee but you are waiting for a important email from your client
* You want cheaper alternative to SMS

For whom is this review?

Since recently we can download a new version of Gmail for mobile phones. It works perfectly on Nokia N73 (In mobile phones section you can read the review).

The application is simple and easy to use like all applications we get from Google. It uses whatever internet connection is available on your Mobile provider. It can use GPRS, EDGE or 3G for connecting to the internet, and the prices depend on your provider. For example my provider charges 5c for 100Kb of transfer, which allows me to check my e-mail about 20 times and write about 20 emails. If you use N73 it will not be to easy considering the size of the keys but it is much cheaper than writing SMS.

If you get a Word document or Excel file as the attachment, you can open it using Google documents (does not require additional installation)

You can even let Gmail run on your phone all the time, but it is not recommended due the constant radio wave radiation while being connected on GPRS.

You can download it via Phone internet browser on www.google.com/apps

Annoyances

Every time you want to check your email you are being asked: “Allow application Gmail to use network and send of receive data” and again “Select access point”. This might be a mobile phone issue, but I couldn’t find the way to set the default preferences to use the network.
